Design concept for a Colorado living room refresh project for a family with two young children who wanted modern style balanced with durable natural materials. We went with a Mountain Modern concept anchored in olives, cognac, and warm neutrals—colors referencing the surrounding landscape without feeling literal.

The concrete fireplace surround, chimney, and backsplash bring an architectural edge, while cherry built-ins and floating shelves around the range hood add warmth. Performance velvets in olive and spruce tones handle family life without sacrificing visual impact. Framed textiles and woven rugs function as wall treatments, and floor-to-ceiling drapery adds scale. A sculptural scolecite sideboard ties the material palette together—organic, functional, and built to last through the chaos of everyday living.
